Visualisation – A FREE powerful tool for your business?

What is

 visualisation

and how can you use it?

You might have heard people talking about visualisation and how you can visualise having the perfect day, the perfect year, even the perfect life, and then it actually coming true.
But is it all it's cracked up to be? And just how could it help you in your business?

Well I’ve been putting it to the test, and here’s what I found…

in a nutshell

it works!

To save you time (because I know your time is precious), the short answer is YES it works, and it’s freaking amazing!

But it’s not just me.

From famous names like Albert Einstein, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith, Idris Elba, Oprah Winfrey, to sports greats like Muhammad Ali. Remember his famous mantra “I am the greatest”? He said it, and he was!

And let’s not forget Novak Djokovic, one of the most successful tennis players of all time, whose commitment to the visualisation of his game, has helped him win 20 Grand Slam titles.

People who have, and are succeeding in what they do, often use visualisation to help get them there.

We have so many tools available to us as business owners, but it's often the simplest ones that we forget or just don't know about.

Visualisation falls into this category.

Hi

I'm Naomi

I help people start and grow new businesses.

Mindset is undoubtedly the most important factor in actually getting your business started.

You have to believe in what you are doing for it to work.

To help you adopt the right mindset, come and join me on Instagram, and say hello.

so what is it?

It’s when you think about and really imagine something you want is already happening.

You see it happen in your mind - a bit like day dreaming. Do this enough, and what you imagine will start to come into form.

There's science behind visualisation

And it's pretty powerful!

The brain is a very clever and complex organ, capable of helping us to achieve great things. When we keep doing something, we practice something - like a sport, a language or a musical instrument, we are hardwiring these skills into our brain and body. And as you know, when we do it over and over again it forms a habit, and we get better at that thing.

But here’s the crazy thing, and perhaps the simplest way of explaining it is found in this quote by Dr David R Hamilton.

“Your brain cannot tell the difference between something that’s real and whether you are just imagining it.”

Dr David R Hamilton

So essentially, if you keep imagining (visualising) that you can do something, even if you don’t physically do it – if you keep seeing it happen, then your brain will start to work to make that a reality.

Now, I’m not qualified to give you all the science behind it, but I am 100% convinced that it works. I’ll link below to some further reading and some visualisation videos if you are interested in learning more about the science behind it.

But, please watch this one by the late great Bob Proctor – The Power of Visualisation. It’s only 5 minutes but it’s really powerful.

Leading therapist Marisa Peer also swears by this. She says  that "every thought you think, and every word you say forms a blueprint, and your mind must work to make that blueprint real.”

This is why visualising daily will set you on a path for achieving the things you want – you will naturally start to take the actions that will get you there.

Use it to visualise the life you want, the new house or car, or a better relationship. The possibilities are endless, but I think it can have real impact in our businesses.

"Every thought you think, and every word you say forms a blueprint, and your mind must work to make that blueprint real."

how to use visualisation

for your business...

Close your eyes and imagine your business up and running – maybe 1 or 2 years in the future.

You see everything running smoothly; the business you want is right before you and it’s all happening perfectly. What does this look like for you?

Allow yourself to dream and really see yourself in that scenario.

What does your business look like? How much money are you making? Do you have staff? How many? Are you in an office or working from home? What do your clients say?

And what does your life look like? Do you have more time for family? Are you in the same house or have you moved? Where have you moved to? Where are you going on holiday? How does life now feel with this successful business?

Only think of the good stuff! Don’t get caught up worrying about the what-ifs. You have to imagine everything is working out perfectly for you, and feel the excitement and joy.

Doing this re-affirms that you really want this business and life. You will feel a deeper connection to it; it will start to excite you, and give you something to strive towards.

remember!

When you visualise it in your mind, you are starting the process of actually making it happen.

go one step further...

Spend a few minutes visualising how your day is going to go, and run through your day in your mind before you get out of bed. See everything flow perfectly and happen with ease.

Be detailed!

See yourself get out of bed, wash, get dressed, drive the kids to school (traffic free of course), get back home and start work on your business. See each task get completed easily and efficiently, see yourself taking breaks, having lunch, and making calls. See yourself calm, relaxed, and it all going perfectly. Whatever your day looks like, run through it all.

If you know that you need to complete specific tasks in the day, make sure you visualise yourself completing each one and feel really good about it.

See everything going smoothly, and try to feel the excitement and satisfaction that you will feel when you have accomplished each task.

make visualisation

a daily habit!

Spend 10 minutes doing this every day, ideally before you get out of bed in the morning. And if you can, add in a few minutes before bed at night. See your business up and running, just the way you want it, and it being a success.

Do this every day and you will see results.

I've been doing this on and off for a couple of years now (I’m always testing it) and when I do it, my day always goes better, more smoothly and I get so much more done. Plus I'm in a much higher vibe.

Many people never start their business, or don't get very far with it, because they don’t really know what they want, or they can’t imagine it working out for them. This gives you the opportunity to change that!

Remember that visualisation allows you to create the picture of how you want your life and business to go, and it forms a blueprint or a plan in your mind – something that you can follow to make it actually happen.

You really can incorporate visualisation into your daily routine. Just 10 minutes a day can have a big and lasting impact.

It’s free, it’s powerful, and anyone can use it. What’s not to love?
